In Tune: Haim’s Playful ’80s Throwback “The Wire”

TUNE: ”The Wire,” the latest studio track released by the trio of long-limbed brunette sisters, has got a little bit of everything. Pleasant pop vocals that sound like they’ve flown in straight from the ’80s are complemented by drowsy guitar riffs and a hard-driving drum track that commands you to dance (or at least passionately bob your head), not to mention those sweet, sweet harmonies spilling over a steady bass as the song draws to a close.

BY: Los Angeles band Haim, made up of Alana, Danielle, and Este (Haim), along with drummer Dash Hutton. Though all the band’s members have had their fair share of playing in backing bands for some high-profile artists (the Strokes, Cee-Lo Green, Jenny Lewis), Haim formed and released their first EP, “Forever, in 2012.

CURRENTLY: Up next from Haim is their much anticipated debut album ”Days Are Gone,” to be released under Polydor Records on September 30. The future looks bright for these L.A. rockers, who are embarking on their very own North American tour that includes a pitstop at Webster Hall on September 3.
