By Bryan Hood | TUNE: Q Lazzarus’s “Goodbye Horses” (which you probably encountered here the first time), has always been creepy. This cover maintains that same feel but also manages to sound just as beautiful and haunting as when we first encountered it. An unsettlingly simple rendition, one that consists of nothing but slow piano plinks and lush and somber vocals.
BY: London-based musician and producer Jon Hopkins, with vocals courtesy of Wild Beasts’ Hayden Thorpe.
CURRENTLY: Hopkins just released his fourth studio album, the well-reviewed “Immunity,” but this is actually the B-side to the digital rerelease of the original on July 2 from Mon Amie Records.
